stated to contain selected tracks from an upcoming movie, i«m not sure of the exact details of this flick, but essentially the release contains two long tracks, one for each side of the vinyl. having not heard any of the outputs of xingu hill before i`m not sure how relevant this release is to his normal sound, but the dark atmospheres of black lung are still evident, albeit with a bit more of a focus on the beats & groove. starting with some gliched noise the first track ("cromson skies and vapour trails") soon finds its elements in the mind placed dub/techno/beat and the groove laden backing. easily accessible the polished sheen of the beats works on one level, while there remains an extensive underlying layers of sounds & noise to be explored on subsequent listens. the beat remains the constant in the lengthy & flowing track, with the various layers added and subtracted, gradually morphing & envolving the overall atmosphere. the glitched opening element makes another (late) appearance before the dark grooving beats and atmospheres kick in for one last round. side two contains "spiders web end theme" that starts with a clawing and droning sequences before the uptempo bass heavy techo kicks in. about 3-4 layers of bass lines, breakbeats and the like are used to make a complex structure, agian utalising layers of background textures. later in the track the dark cavernous background atmospheres rise to the foreground (as the beats are gradually removed), leading the track into its ultimate conclusion. dark, trancelike beats and grooves and uptempo techno break beats ensure a great listen somplimented by obscure cover art that suits the music very well. recommended.

(xph)

on this 10" vinyl record surrealism and coldness of black lung is combined with micro-manipulated soundstructures of xingu hill. both bands complement each other, and the result is a bizarre and unreal structured atmospheric sound. "crimson skies & vapour trails" is filled with slow deep bass; the track gradually progresses to immerse into more and more bizarre beats mixed with compressed analog bleeps and pulses. whacked synth lines cascade on the background, percussion fades away and comes back in the form of a funky drum loop. the dark world envelopes the listener; soft abstract images mesmerize with their cold beauty. "spiders web" seems to be more rhythmic with heavy broken beats backed by countless pulses, collapsing synthlines, cold abrasive sounds and spinning noises. random screeches, saturated bass and waves of cold atmospheric sounds create an intense ambience that explodes with bombarding percussion at the end. this collaboration is a perfect soundtrack music. while it is hard to listen to xingu hill on the background, since it demands full listener's attention to the smallest details, this project resulted in the sound that is a great soundtrack music due to more monumental soundstructures build by thrussel, and at the same time meticulously constructed atmosphere of xingu hill is still present in the background, where it could be discovered by attentive listener.

More than just a collaboration between two of the most important artists in the dark/industrial techno domain, "The Andronechron Incident" is the soundtrack for the movie of the same name, released by "L'Ultimo Pictures International". I can't tell you anything about this movie, which I have not seen, except that, according to the photos on the sleeve of this 10'', it looks rather science-fictionesque.
Black Lung and Xingu Hill producing music together is for sure exciting. The first are famous all around the world for their politically incorrect disturbing industrial techno, while the second are the finest writers of calm and beautiful dark techno. The mixture, on this "Andronechron incident" is two mid tempo very melodic and cinematic (of course) tracks. All in all, these two songs may be closest to Xingu Hill than to Snog's instrumental side project, except maybe for some of the unexpected variations on the second track.
"Crimson Skies and vapour trails" is a very nice slow piece, with a fine melody. It is quite calm and relaxing, and it probably doesn't goes on with an action scene. The "Spiders Web end theme" is slightly faster and more complex, but, somehow, I can imagine very well how it accompanies the end theme of a movie.
Very well produced and recorded, this record is a must buy for any fan of any of these two bands. A nice object and fine music, there's nothing more to desire.
